- HEY SONGWRITERS!
Mark Cawley was on bass and Charlie Brown was on guitar in my very first attempt to be in a band back in late 1964. At the time I didn’t even know how to properly tune a guitar.
Mark bought a beautiful Hofner McCartney bass and worked with it hours every day. It did not take long and he was way ahead of the pack. I got a hold of a Gretsch Corsair with a Dearmond pickup. Charlie had a 335 style guitar with an awesome fender amp. We were enthralled with the Beatles, the Stones, and MoTown.
So it is no surprise that Mark would eventually pursue an education and then a career in music and become a successful song writer. And now he has released this excellent guide book for those who want to be their best at writing songs.
This is a highly useful book, very practical, with solid advice, written by someone who has actually done it through all the thick and thin. This book will be invaluable to any whose goal is to be a successful songwriter. - This is a terrific read! I am not a songwriter, but I still enjoyed Mark Cawley's insights into the songwriting business. Mark shares his knowledge and stories of being both a musician and a songwriter. So even if you're not a songwriter, "Song Journey" is a book that might provide ideas for you to use in your line of work.

As someone who dabbles with songwriting as a hobby, I've picked up several valuable tips and techniques that have already influenced how I think about capturing ideas. - Great read, easy flow from chapter to chapter. Have seen Mark many times when he was playing music and have several of his albums. He is a very accomplished musician as well as a great song writer. Mark's easy to understand explanations and structuring of song writing are easy to follow. This makes it easy for anyone to start out on the correct path in the music industry. - This book is full of wisdom. There are techniques you can apply today, and real stories to back them up. It’s written with passion and respect for the craft of songwriting. It feels as if Mark is talking directly to you openly and honestly, like an old friend. Inspiring!
- A Preview. Sometimes when we hear that first single note in a song we know it's worth all our attention. So I'm settling in with my eye phones on anticipating another great song journey
- Clear, concise and accessible- with lots of great stories mixed in. Makes me want to sit down and start writing immediately. This guy is the real deal.
- Great read! Even if you (like me) aren’t necessarily trying to make it as a professional songwriter/musician, this book was fun and easy to read with a lot of wisdom to share for creatives in general.
