Stone Cold Heart Tracers Book 13 edition by Laura Griffin Romance eBooks Reviews
- Something weird happened to me while I was reading Stone Cold Heart. I was more interested in the suspense and the unsub than in the romance. As a romantic at heart, this was really shocking to me. No doubt only Laura Griffin can distract me from a HEA!
Stone Cold Heart is the 13th book in the Tracers series. Each book has a new couple investigating a case.
Newcomer Sara Lockhart is a forensic anthropologist. She's at a wedding when she's called by detective Nolan Hess to assist on an investigation. Human bones have been found at a National Park. Sara has recently relocated to Texas after spending some time in Guatemala. She accepted a job at the Delphi Crime Center. Sara is confident in her performance. She's a hard worker and prefers to stay away from any romantic notions. Her last relationship ended with her breaking up her own engagement.
Nolan Hess feels a responsibility to his town. A girl disappeared almost a year ago and her family is still looking for answers. Nolan wants nothing more than to bring the family some closure. He would love to capture the person responsible for her disappearance and put them behind bars for a long time. When human bones are found at the park, he thinks they could be the remains of the missing girl but Sara has her doubts. Then, a new young woman disappears in a city close by.
Stone Cold Heart had the perfect components of a romantic suspense novel. Laura Griffin is able to create the right environment for the crimes. In this case, the parks, the rock climbing and the caves were an excellent addition to the mystery. The idea of a serial killer dumping bodies so close to other people enjoying the outdoors was scary. I was biting my nails trying to figure out who was the killer. I knew it had to be close to them but I wasn't sure who it was until the end.
Stone Cold Heart is a great complement to the Tracers series. I hope we see many more stories to come.
Cliffhanger No
4/5 Fangs - Laura Griffin writes one of my favorite romantic suspense series. Stone Cold Heart is the 13th book in the Tracers series and each story is packed with suspense, action, romance and wonderful characters. I eagerly look forward to each new book.
The Tracers are a “CSI†group of investigators. I love how each book deals with a different aspect of crime solving. Sara Lockhart is a forensic anthropologist with the Delphi Crime Center and is called when human bones are found in a park. Nolan Hess is a police detective with the local police department looking for a local teenage climber who vanished a year ago. He is hoping the bones belong to her so the family can finally get closure. It turns out not to be Nolan’s missing teenager, but as more bones are found, the mystery broadens.
This book was so full of action and suspense. I absolutely could not put it down. Ms. Griffin knows how to plot a mystery. I was totally engaged from beginning to end. The romance was subtle and believable as Sara and Nolan were both focused on finding a killer.
I highly recommend this book. I have read every book in this series and they are excellent books. Ms. Griffin is on my pre-order list and I always look forward to receiving my kindle copy on publishing day. - What can you expect from a Laura Griffin Tracer romance? You can expect a storyline that could have been clipped right from the newspapers, the stories feel so real, and the twists and turns are endless, keeping me guessing until the end. The chemistry between the H/h are always sizzling on low-simmer, crackling with each look and touch without ever overpowering the suspense storyline. That is one thing I love about Laura's books, she is able to balance the suspense with the romance at a perfect ratio that the story never slows but builds. Perfection!
If you haven't yet picked up any of Griffin's Tracers romances, I encourage you to start from any of the books BUT, I am so so so so so in love with all of the characters who have come before, so I would start from the beginning and binge read through them all. I have so many favorites, if you asked me which one I like best, I would have to run down the entire series. (Side note start with THREAD OF FEAR and WHISPER OF WARNING...Jack and Fiona are a TOP fave).
Anyway...start reading NOW. DO NOT HESITATE to one-click this book and ALL that came before. Even my grandfather loves the Tracers. Griffin is an unstoppable force in the romance suspense genre with her page-turning, heartstopping romances. - I’m going to give a big shout out to Lucky #13 for Tracers author Laura Griffin. This is absolutely the best one that I have read yet, and I have read all of them since I am such a big fan! This book is centered around Sara Lockhart, a top forensic anthropologist who works hard in the deep recesses of the Delphi Center. When she stumbles onto a case of missing women in the same area in which she likes to climb and hike, she is drawn into the case. She is also magnetically attracted to the local police detective Nolan Hess, so the stage is set for some fast-paced action and lots of fireworks in the romance department. I really enjoyed finding out more about the quiet and elusive Sara and what has made her into the introverted, driven worker that she is. Meeting Nolan was a bonus, of course! The villain was a real surprise to me, although the clues were all there to follow, albeit subtle. I liked being led to a surprise conclusion and knowing that the loose ends are all tied up in the end, although everything is not a happy ending for all involved. Fans of the Tracers series will not want to miss this one and those who read romantic suspense need to add it to their to-be-read-right-away pile!
